| Catalan political prisoners have been in detention for almost two years. We knew it was likely they would stay there for a long time. Now we know for how long. For up to a total of 100 years.
100 years for defending democracy.
100 years for calling peaceful demonstrations.
100 years for convening a referendum on self-determination.
These convictions are the judgment of an unfair, biased and dishonest trial. The trial was a farce from the very start. It is not we that say this: dozens of international observers have said as much, having witnessed complaints about the burlesque attitude of the court, such as the use of abusive tactics to present only the police version, the ban on the use of Catalan and the hostile treatment of defendants and families.
